MMR

Well here we go again... now they want to make the MMR compulsory

Sir Sandy said: "Our attempts to persuade people have failed. The suggestion is that we ought to consider making a link which in effect would make it compulsory for children to be immunised if they are to receive the benefit of a free education from the state."

Talk about blackmail...so basically he his saying we know best you are all stupid and if you don't agree with us then we will give you no choice in the matter...there goes 'democracy' in action again.

I will look on with interest to the increasing use of scare tactics that will be used during the coming months on this debate.

June Newsletter

Hi and welcome to the June newsletter.
Well we are certainly having a nice start to June here in the UK, temperatures rising, beautiful b beautiful blue skies and the prospect of a great summer. For some people though
summer means just one thing - hay fever. Not a life threatening complaint but one that
can leave you feeling thoroughly miserable. Here’s a tip I came across recently and you do this at your own risk… open the freezer and put your face in and feel that lovely pure air on your skin…now please be careful because getting your head stuck is not recommended and take care to avoid skin contact. Like I say you do it at your own risk.

If you’re looking for something a little more permanent then may I be so bold as to suggest the use of EFT, Hypnosis and Allergy Antidotes which can help to de-sensitize you to the pollen and bring great relief and sometimes eliminate the problem completely.
A Swiss team at Basle University taught 66 people with hay-fever the art of hypnosis and found it helped them alleviate symptoms such as runny nose.
The volunteers also took their regular anti-hay-fever drugs, but the effect of hypnosis appeared to be additive and reduce the doses they needed to take.
The study took place over two years and two hay fever seasons. In the first year one group were taught and used to regularly use self hypnosis and take their usual allergy medicine. A second group just took their normal allergy medicine.
After a year those using hypnosis had reported fewer symptoms than the other group.
In the second year the remaining volunteers were taught self hypnosis and by the end of that year they also reported improvements in their symptoms.

This may not be a massive survey but at least it bears more investigation, it is often very difficult to get any funding for a survey like this, or for that matter any natural treatments. There is a whole stack of anecdotal evidence to support hypnosis for allergy relief.

What is even more exciting about this trial is that with the introduction of EFT or allergy antidotes the results would have been even better (in my opinion) but then I have seen people with severe substance sensitivities able to smell the substance after EFT!

A quick thank you to those people who came to the Mind Power demonstration. Those who did come said they enjoyed the evening and hopefully we will have a few more attending next time. One lady had her phobia reduced considerably in only a few minutes.

I will be at the Caerwys Agricultural Show on Saturday 13th June. It promises to be a good day out so pop along and say hello if you see me. There are more details here http://www.caerwysshow.co.uk/

Trust

There has quite rightly been a huge public outcry regarding MP's expenses or to be more accurate abuse of expenses. Many people have been quire right to point out that should a member of the public cheat on their expenses they would be immediately sacked and that benefit cheats end up in prison. Are we going to see more MP's being sacked? I doubt it given what I heard or didn't hear on Question Time last night. The arrogance of some of them is unbelievable. I listened to a young woman of just 19 on te radio telling how she had lost her job as a waitress. She had been supporting herself since the age of 15 and had now been forced into claiming job seekers allowance of £50 a week which she had to pay run her small flat, pay travel expenses and buy food. She admitted that she had as little as £1 left for food some weeks reaching a high of £5 sometimes! Imagine how she must feel knowing that MP's with a basic salary over £64,000 a year were claiming in one case £800 a month for food. Makes you sick at the gross inequlities in our society.

Yes seen in my local supermarket over the week end a strange new vegetable appeared in the vegetable section...covered in a red plastic outer covering...it had the words Maltesers on the outside...on closer inspection it appears that this new health conscious delight is chocolate covered. I mean really maltesers in the fruit and veg section...we all the old tactic of putting them by the checkout for the kids to pester you for them but now you're not even safe in the veg section!

May Newsletter

Hi and welcome to the May newsletter.
It seems some people have been trying to contact me on my old mobile phone number.
I apologise for this if you have been wondering why I haven’t replied but basically that
phone no longer works due to a soaking with a large amount of water! These are the numbers you can contact me on: 01352 714690 or mobile 07963576772 or email me at chestereft@aol.com.

I have also been asked if I still do the ‘physio’ and massage work and the answer is yes they form a part of my treatments for pain relief, increasing mobility, sports and occupational injuries, stress and health problems.
They are tools in my therapeutic bag just as are Hypnotherapy, Fear Elimination Therapy, EFT, TAT, NLP, Allergy Antidotes, Reiki, My own Deep Relaxation Therapy (DRT) and anything else which helps me to help you. Some of these are demonstrated on my Mind Power Demonstrations and Free talks which you are of course welcome to attend.
On the subject of hypnotherapy, what I have found is that there is a certain amount of fear surrounding it. Much of this has come from the farcical portrayal of it in the media, T.V. and by Holywood and also to some extent by comedy hypnosis shows although I believe these shows to be highly entertaining and as long as people see them as that then fine. It is this portrayal of mind control which scares people. In a clinical or medical hypnosis setting hypnosis is used to help people overcome a problem which could be a phobia, to help healing after surgery, to overcome a health problem, ease pain and a 1001 other uses. Unfortunately we live in a society where the media and therefore us, require sensational headlines and stories and something to do with the dark side of anything seems to generate more interest than the good and love that we share. It’s ironic that people have this fear of hypnosis and yet hypnotists spend a lot of time helping people get over phobias of things like flying, insects, spiders and 100’s of others!
You have certainly got no cause to be scared of hypnosis, especially considering we all have the ability to go into self hypnosis and do so several times a day…Hypnosis is about cooperation not confrontation and the therapist who is foolish enough to attempt to scare someone will not be in business long!
In conclusion, hypnotherapy is much underused because of this fear and many people who will benefit enormously from it will not get the help they so desperately need…this is extremely sad. I hope after reading this article that you will help to start a wave of enlightenment so that more people have the opportunity to embrace the remarkable tool that is hypnosis.

support choice

UK Petition to Support Herbal MedicineWe the undersigned strongly object to the [UK] Government's proposals to statutorily regulate herbalists and change section 12(1) of the 1968 Medicines Act. We also oppose the abolishing of section 12(2) of the 1968 Medicines Act to be replaced by The Traditional Medicines Registration Scheme by 2011. These proposals have been heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry, which stand to gain by the proposals. Any new state regulation requires that a sufficient risk can be demonstrated to prove the need for regulation, there is not any evidence to prove that herbalists or herbal medicine present a significant risk to the public under previous and present legislation, when policed properly. These proposals will reduce access, increase costs, decrease patient choice, encourage a black market and send experienced herbalists underground, crucify our indigenous tradition and diversity of available healthcare. At a time when we face urgent environmental problems, herbal medicine provides some of the answers only if it remains a ‘people’s medicine’, simple and freely accessible. Herbal medicine does not belong to herbalists or pharmaceutical companies, the public should be educated and encouraged to use traditional herbal medicines for minor health problems, not immobilised by a state of fear.Read and sign the petition at gopetition.co.uk (UK)Comment: The British Government wishes to further regulate herbalists by bringing them under state control. In addition, it wants to change the herbal medicine laws to prevent anyone, other than a state regulated herbalist (or possibly other health professional), from prescribing herbs. This, coupled with a previous change to the UK’s herbal medicine laws, will take herbal medicine away from the people and result in state regulated herbalists and pharmaceutical companies claiming herbal medicine as their own. Not surprisingly, therefore, the pharmaceutical industry is heavily involved in influencing the regulation of herbalists and herbal medicine, which it sees as a threat to its multi-billion dollar business with disease.

April Newsletter

Don’t Miss This

Hi again and welcome to April’s newsletter. In this edition we will be looking at a
very simple and easy way to improve your health which requires absolutely no equipment, no gym fees and can be done anywhere. Firstly though, no more bookings are being taken for the Spring seminar advertised in last month’s newsletter, it seems people know an excellent offer when they see one! Fear not though, because if you were thinking you should have booked then there is some good news because I will be running the seminar again at the beginning of June so please email me for details and I’ve also added a new easy payment plan so even more of you can now come.

Take A Deep Breath

Just for a moment notice your breathing…it’s not something most people really give much thought to yet it is of vital importance to our health and well-being. There are three types of breathing…diaphragmatic breathing (from the abdomen) is the most effective; thoracic breathing (mid – chest) and clavicular breathing (upper chest).

Breathing from the diaphragm gets more oxygen into the lungs and so into the bloodstream. So let’s see if we can get you breathing from the diaphragm, by the way babies and toddlers seem to do it naturally but somewhere along the way we stop doing it as we get older.

Right then, make yourself comfortable, now place one hand on to your abdomen, and the other on your chest. Take a breath in…where did you notice the breath? For most people in their chest I’m willing to bet. Ok, now keep your hand on your abdomen and take a deep breath in only this time concentrate on pushing your hand away with your abdomen which should be pushing outwards like inflating a balloon. Ok now just breath out and as you do so allow your abdomen to flatten blowing all the air out. Congratulations you’re breathing from your diaphragm. Practice a few deep breaths now but don’t overdo it because if you are not used to this you can sometimes feel a little giddiness or light headed. So take it easy and build up.

Here’s a breathing exercise which I have used for sometime now, I believe I read it in the Tony Robbins book Unlimited Power. Take a deep breath in and count how long it takes you to fully inhale, then you hold the breath for 4 times the length of the inhale and then exhale for twice as long as the inhale . So say it takes 7 seconds on the inhale you hold the breath for 28 seconds (7x4) and exhale fully for 14 seconds (7x2). Work your way up to 10 cycles of that it gets the blood flowing in the morning and is a great energy booster anytime of day. When I breathe in I imagine a cleansing, refreshing light coming into my body which circulates through me as I hold the breath and when I exhale I imagine all the negative energy being blown out into the universe leaving me feeling cleansed. Get into the habit right now.

tough decisions

In 1993 Jamie Bulger, a three year old little boy was taken from a shopping centre by two 10 year old boys when for a second his mother was not watching. They proceeded to do despicable things to the little boy before throwing him helpless onto a railway line. I, as i'm sure many people will, remember the incident well. How could two ten year olds commit such atrocities on a beautiful, defenceless litttle boy as they did? Now, as adults they are to be released and given new identities and new lives probably in Australia.

They will now be about 26 years old, Jamie would have been 19. The parent part of me says that they should rot in jail and never be let out. The therapist side says that they were only children when the did this and maybe they can be successfully rehabilitated. On the other hand are some people just plain evil and cannot be changed no matter what? The people responsible for releasing them face a heavy burden...if these two should kill again then they will be tormented by their decision forever and will have subjected another family to terrible grief. This is a tough call and one i'm glad i will not have to take.

March Newsletter

How lovely it is to see the first shoots of spring emerging, the days getting longer and a wee bit warmer too maybe it will help to put people in a slightly more positive mood. The changes the World is experiencing at present have seen a change and an increase in the types of problems people are asking for help with, namely anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, motivation and stress. These are problems which are what one would expect to see rises in at times like this. A secondary consequence is an increase in the number of physical complaints relating to pain.

Some interesting details were revealed at the recent Different Minds Conference organized by the Open University psychological Society…Professor Neil Frude, a clinical psychologist from the University of Cardiff, quoting World Health Organization (WHO) statistics said that worldwide mental illness accounts for 28% of years lived with disability and that 5 out of 10 leading causes of disability are psychological.

Now most people don’t think of disability in these terms. Disability for most people is usually thought of in terms of a physical impairment and mental health is often not discussed. It would probably be right to say that mental health issues have often been ‘brushed under the carpet’, and sufferers have often been very reluctant to seek help because of some misplaced belief that they are some how weak or they will be stigmatized and this belief is often still the case, especially with men.

Psychological aspects also increase the number of aches and pains a person can suffer with and an estimated 80% of people who visit a GP with aches and pains are actually clinically depressed. At a rough estimate I would say that 80% or more of back pain is the result of psychological/emotional problems. The new science of psychoneuroimmunology (bit of a mouth full that one!) is now proving the connection between mind and body and how our thoughts and emotions can manifest as physical symptoms.

Depression is a terrible illness it can lead to loss of jobs, marriage breakdowns, ill-health, and sometimes even suicide. Depression can manifest in three main ways: biological, where there is a problem with the brain chemistry, this can be often quickly solved with anti depressant medication. Psychological, largely a result of negative programming often originating in childhood, traumatic events. Social, poor housing, extreme debt, lack of opportunity for work. Most often it is a combination of all three and therefore will require intervention on all three levels. It is no use treating someone with just anti-depressants if they live with a violent partner and/or cannot pay their bills because the cause of their depression is still their and so will continue.

Here are some signs that depression may be a problem
Things they say:
Talking about feelings of sadness or emptiness
Saying they are no good and worthless
Saying they have no interest in anything

Personality Changes:
Trouble making decisions
Not able to concentrate and remember things
Trouble at home, work or school
Not talking, hiding themselves away
Slowed down movement
Irritable, restless, angry
Stopping normal activities like hobbies or interests.
Taking drugs or drinking a lot of alcohol.

Other indicators of depression are an increase in aches and pains such as backache and headaches, problems with weight, either losing a lot or putting a lot on, insomnia, feeling unloved, talking about death or dying or committing suicide.

If you suspect you are someone close is depressed attempt to get them to see their doctor as the first port of call because their GP can if necessary prescribe anti depressants or refer them to a mental health professional. Sometimes you may even need to make the appointment for them as they may just not have the motivation to do so themselves.

If you have any comments on this or anything else please reply on my blog at www.chestereft.blogspot.com or email chestereft@aol.com

Credit Crunch Fatigue

Well I have well and truly had it up to here listening about the 'credit crunch' which of course no one saw coming...(except those who manufactured it and are loving it as the world goes into a massive panic) so let us not indulge them any more, these people who thrive on the energy of fear. Let us break away by concentrating our energy on positiv, uplifting things.

So what can we do?

Well here's what I do:

I'm very selective in watching T.V and never watch the news because if anything happens I'm sure someone will tell me and as soon as you go on the internet you always get the headlines on the home page.

I hardly ever read newspapers except for articles which might be useful for my work. Most newspapers are just full of gossip, lies and downright deceit. Most journalists could not investigate their way out of a paper bag and rely on the 'offical' story they are told and then just repeat it like a parrot.

I look for the beautiful things in nature and in people. There is beauty all around us yet most people never even notice it.

Do a good deed for someone without the need for any reward other than knowing you are helping a fellow traveller on our journey together.

Smile and say hello to people, pay someone a compliment, a genuine compliment LOOK and you will find something. See if you can brighten up the day of that miserable looking shop assistant.

Spend 15 minutes a day in silent contemplation and send out thoughts of love, peace and anything else positive.

There are just a few to be going on with and there are many more. Let's break away from this doom and gloom mentality.

I'd love to hear what you think. Please send a reply back.

Love

Paul

February Newsletter

Greetings and a Happy New Year to You.

I hope you had a very enjoyable festive season and are now enjoying the rather chilly start to 2009.
Of course it’s the time of year when New Year resolutions are made have you made any? Some people want to get fitter, lose weight, stop smoking, get a new job, increase their confidence and a
101 other things. Here is a startling fact…roughly 40% of people will have broken that resolution
in the first week!
Isn’t that amazing…nearly half quit within the first week OK even if we take out those who made their promise on New Years Eve after large consumptions of alcohol, it still leaves an awful lot. What’s even sadder is that by the end of this year 90% or more will not have made a single positive change…and unfortunately that goes on year in year out.

So why? Most start off with good intentions, they want change they know it will change their life so why do they soon quit?
Well one answer could be that we are naturally creatures of habit…we don’t really like change, we prefer to stay in our comfort zone where we feel safe. The conscious mind says “sure it will be nice to change” but the subconscious (which is by far the more powerful) says “ No, let’s stay as we are, we are comfortable like this, we know who we are.” And so we find lots of reasons why we will start tomorrow or next week and before you know it here comes the next year when another unfulfilled resolution is made.

Change Your Mind Change Your Life

It really is possible to change your life. Some people will say “I never have any opportunities” or “We never had any money” or or or or…. So what about the people born in ghetto’s who took the decision to get out and change their lives and became millionaires or the people with disabilities who against all odds have achieved great things?
They were inspired to change and it really can be just one single thought that sets them on the road to success. Whatever your life is now it does not have to be that way, it does not have to be the only life you lead.

Take this man, He’s called Randy Gage, I have read his story and listened to his tapes many times. He is an inspirational speaker and motivator. It wasn’t always so…at one time he was sleeping on the floor eating macaroni and cheese out of a can every day and $50,000 in debt. He could only pay his electric bill on the very last day before being cut off and often asked for an extension. He got shot and nearly died. In fact his life was a mess until one day he was reading a book which said that “your thoughts can be an instrument for poverty or prosperity.” And you know what he did…from that moment he completely changed his thoughts is now a multi millionaire, international speaker and much sought after marketing expert.

Then there is TJ and Eileen Rohledger they were virtually penniless yet managed to scrape together $350 to start a business which has now made them over $100million dollars!

Richard Branson was dyslexic and what about Stephen Hawking, Simon Weston and lots of others who have overcome adversity.

All change begins in the mind so why not just change your mind?

Well as we discussed before, we are creatures of habit and it takes a lot of work to break a habit if you use conventional methods which rely a lot on will-power.

Will power is related to the conscious part of the mind and that is not running the show…it is the subconscious and unless you change your sub-conscious programming changing anything is pretty hard.

Fortunately there are some great methods to tap into the subconscious and change that programming, to change the negative beliefs, the blocks to success and write in another program that will help you reach your goal.

The techniques I use such as Hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT are the Ferrari’s of the psychological world as opposed to the Ford Fiesta’s of many conventional approaches. The Fiesta may get you where you want to go but with the Ferrari you could be sitting on the beach, drinking cocktails and enjoying the life you want to.

January 20th EFT Tapfest

If you have ever read The Field by Lynn McTaggart or The Intention Experiment (same author; see the books section on http://www.chestereft.co.uk/) then you will be aware of the incredible scientific discoveries being made all over the world by small groups of dedicated scientists into how intention can change the World we live in.

On January 20, I, along with hundreds of thousands of other practitioners and users of EFT took part in the first ever EFT TapFest. This was the day when the new President of the United States was sworn into office and it was thought this would be a great day to do this as his whole message is about change.
So at midday all over the world people set their intention on peace and tapped to release blocks they may have to it and send a flood of positive energy to the World. We look forward to getting millions of people to take part and changing this present reality we are living.

Forthcoming Events

In April I will be holding a ‘Mind Therapy Evening’ which will be focusing on relieving pain and health problems. Volunteers are needed so if you, or someone you know would be prepared to take part in front of the audience then please contact me on 01352 714690.

We do of course also want an audience so come along and enjoy the evening . It will run for two hours and is aimed at showing just how effective these techniques are in helping to relieve pain. You will see humour, tears, joy and a whole new understanding that the life you lead now does not have to be the only life you lead.

If you want to participate, either as a volunteer or you want a seat in the audience please contact me immediately on 01352 714690 or email chestereft@aol.com

Have a great Month.

weight watchers reveal all

I have just seen weightwatchers new advertising campaign. It has the caption "I've just discovered all my cravings were in my head not my tummy." What an intersting concept! Maybe all those unsuccesful dieters will realise that the really should come to see a mind therapist who will be able to help them both with their cravings and the numerous underlying emotional issues that often accompany weight issues.

money for nothing?

I'm sure that you, like me, are amazed at the going's on in the financial world at the moment. Billions of pounds being given to bail out a banking system that has once again caused misery to millions of hard working honest people.

I was thinking "where has this money come from to bail them out?" and it appears that we (the country) have borrowed it, racking up huge debts. So my next question is who have we borrowed this money from? Certainly not any foreign government who are to busy sorting their own mess out. Well it seems we have borrowed it from private banks...yes unbelievable, we have borrowed from the private banks at huge interest rates to give it to other banks who have cocked up and we will be landed with the debt for generations...and will probably never be paid.

It's quite amazing particularly as this money is really just figures tapped onto a screen and doesn't really exist and yet we pay huge interest on it.

I wonder what other people think of this. Are they angry or the outraged, do they not care a less. I'd love to know.

Obama another stooge?

While the world is optimistic that the new US President is going to change the world i'm not one to sure, or should I say that I don't believe he will change the world for the better. You might want to take a look at this site for another viewpoint on the Obama presidency. www.davidicke.com/obama

Some Information is timeless

The information in some books is as relevant today as it was decades ago. With all the talk of recession and job losses it is very easy to start getting caught up in what the system wants you to believe and concentrate on. I do my best to listen to as little of the news as possible on tv or in the papers and instead prefer to fill my mind with positive upbeat messages. I was looking through my library the other day and came across some timeless classics such as Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill and The Success System That Never Fails: The Science of Success Principles by W. Clement Stone. Both these books have spurred millions of people on to achieve success in their chosen fields of endeavour. Think and Grow Rich has probably influenced more millionaires than any other and continues to do so today. If you have not read it I highly recommend you splash out a fiver and buy a copy. It will probably be one of the most well thumbed books in your collection.

Another thing I've noticed about books is that most successful people have them in abundance. There again most successful people are the ones who are continually learning, it's often the people who don't really need to who show up at seminars and lectures, buy CD and DVD programs and generally continue to develop themselves throught their lifetime.

Isn't that interesting?

Paul McKenna on TV

It was good to see Paul Mckenna on the BBC Breakfast news this morning, although he was promoting his new book (thought there was no advertising on the Beeb?) he also gave a quick demonstration of the 'tapping' technique as it has become known.

There are many therapists who do not like Mr M for various reasons maybe it's jealousy or even worse envy but I don't mind the bloke at all. OK he his on the TV to promote himself and his products but I think anything that highlights our profession in a positive light has got to be a good thing and I hope he his on more because the more people who see these things the more likely they are to seek out a professional therapist to help them.

One of our greatest challenges is to educate people about these therapies to make them aware of how we can help...and let's face it we have an awful lot of competition against us from the pharmaceutical lobby who have such massive finacial clout.

So I say rejoice therapy people for we have someone who is flying the flag for us, someone who the media like and people take notice of. We are all capable of delivering the same level of treatment if not better so let's be thankful we have Paul McKenna promoting us.
